Vern Gambetta, a frequent contributor to T&C, recently announced a special educational opportunity called the Gambetta Athletic Improvement Network (GAIN) Apprentorship. The program was developed based on Gambetta’s career experiences following and leading the functional training path.

The inspiration for this program was derived from Gambetta’s experience with the European Sport School format and the direct learning opportunities he had early in his career. The Apprentorship program blends theory and practice in a five-day coaching school with a small teacher-to-student ratio. Participants will share with other professionals to learn in an atmosphere designed to raise the level of expertise of all those attending--including the mentors.
Graduates of the GAIN Apprentorship coaching school will continue their educational experience by participation in Webcasts, seminars, and blogs to foster continued growth and interaction. At the conclusion of the yearlong cycle of the full program, Gambetta will conduct a “Meeting of the Minds"--a symposium-style gathering of those who have participated in the Apprentorship, featuring presentations from recognized experts and graduates of the program.
The first GAIN Apprentorship school will be June 26 - July 1, 2008 in Sunrise, Fla., at the KICS International Holiday Inn Sports Complex. The second school will be December 4 - 9, 2008 at the same site. It is open to sport coaches, conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, chiropractors, and doctors. Participation will be limited to 20 candidates, who must apply and be accepted for each school.
